So many people and organizations have had a hand in getting Dawn sailing again. Without this support over the years, Dawn would only be a memory, thankfully she is still in market of making memories .....

Thank you ...

We are pleased to have been awarded £1000 towards replacing standing rigging

Helped to make it possible

by way of funding to

bring her back to Maldon. Dawn is now back in her berth where she was launched in 1897

A grant of £675,080

went a long way towards

bringing Dawn back to life

Their support helped restore

the skipper's cabin. Now we are so pleased to have been awarded £5000 towards the

goal of getting Dawn tiller steered once again.

A grant of £5000 has meant that Dawn is once again tiller steered

And so to the next chapter of Dawn's story...

The impossible has been achieved. Anyone who saw Dawn at Hoo will understand the feeling of 'what are we doing ?' that all thought but none let beat them.

The determination from that small group has meant Dawn is there for all of us to enjoy.

The future plans are to continue with what has been started. She is about 95% back to her 1897 beginings.

The restoration will continue until even the drawer handles are back to the 1897 amber glass ones that adorned her crew's living quarters.

Dawn is the only full sized Thames Barge who was built with a tiller left in existance. She is also the only one able to carry a full cargo.

That is something worth preserving for the future.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard to explore a little of Maldon's past trading history.
